Privacy Policy
OffKin for Android · Effective: 13 October 2026
OffKin (“the app”, “we”) is an offline translator and AI assistant. It is designed so that your data stays on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with information.
1. We do not collect your data
- No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
- Everything you type, say, photograph or open (texts, voice, photos, documents, translations, chat and QR history) is processed only on your device and is never sent to us or to third parties.
- We have no servers that receive your content.
2. When the app uses the internet
- Downloading components you choose: the AI model (Hugging Face or our mirror on Cloudflare R2), language packs for translation without AI (Mozilla servers or our mirror), speech-recognition models (alphacephei.com or our mirror), text-recognition language packs (GitHub or our mirror). Like any download, these servers see your IP address; no personal content is sent.
- Read-aloud: the app reads text aloud using Android voices. Voices are downloaded and updated by the system speech engine (for example, Google’s) under its own terms; the app itself does not download voices. Text to be read aloud is passed to this engine on the phone.
- Purchases: Pro is bought through Google Play. Payment is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy; we do not see your payment details. The app checks your purchases with Google Play on the device.
- Links you open (website, email) are handled by your browser or email app.
After the downloads, the app works fully offline, including in airplane mode.
3. Permissions
- Microphone — voice input and conversation. Audio is recognized on the device and is not recorded or sent anywhere.
- Camera — scanning QR codes, documents and photos for translation. Images stay on the device.
- Photo location (media location) — only to show or remove GPS data in the photo metadata editor. Nothing is sent.
- Internet — only for the downloads and purchases described above.
You can revoke permissions at any time in Android settings.
4. Error reports
If the app crashes, a technical crash log is saved on your device. It is sent only if you choose “Report a problem”: the app opens an email to [email protected] with a report attached (phone model, Android and app version, crash log and app error messages). You can review it and decide whether to send it. We use it only to fix problems and delete it when no longer needed.
5. Storage and deletion
Your data is stored in the app’s private storage and in folders you choose for saved files. You can delete history in the app, and uninstalling the app removes its private data. Android’s own backup (under your Google account, if enabled) may include app settings and license status.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
7. Changes and contact
We will update this page if the app’s handling of data changes. Questions: [email protected].
